Happy New Year everyone and after the Christmas break welcome to the second part of the League. Four matches were played on Saturday, 21 January 2012 and the match on Pitch 2, where the two leaders met, was the centre of attention. The DFA-IFLeague had the pleasure and honour of having HE the Panama Ambassador in the UK present at the game. Maybe the nerves or responsibilty got to the Panamanian players who after 11 minutes were already three goals down to a rampant Lusitania Brazil team who started well and never took the foot of the pedal. After a magestic first half performance the Lusitania Brazil team were 5 nil up at halftime and ende the eventual 7-1 winners at full time and now big favourites to win the League championship trophy for the 2011-2012 season has they have a 5 point lead on Panama and Polnad with only 4 games left!
On pitch 2, Poland kept up the pressure and join Panama in second place after beating Japan 2-0 with a goal in each half. On pitch 4, France and Ireland played in a tempestuous match that saw 1 red and 7 yellow cards with the honours even at the end, a 3-3 draw the final result. On Pitch 1 Wales put up another brave fight but could do nothing against the Spanish flair and lost 5-2 with Vidal Biulka (Spain) and Sushane Nair (Wales) both scoring two goals.
Next Saturday the League has a break and the Diplomatic Cup quarter-finals will be played.
