| DFA-IFLeague Current Position | The current position
The 2007-2008 season was one of our most successful yet, both on and off the field. On the field we saw a race between France and Lusitânia Brazil for the title with Poland pushing them all the way, France came out the eventual winners. Lots of teams have improved on recent years and throughout the season, there were no easy games. It has become a very competitive league eventhough two teams managed to win the four different competitions: France (League & Diplomatic Plate Winners); and Lusitânia Brazil (Diplomatic Cup & End of Season Tournament Winners).
Off the field, we have endeavored to increase our profile. We have been featured on the BBC London website, the Diplomat Magazine, had articles and results in the local press and have also been included on UK/South American websites and media. There are weekly articles featuring some teams in the Press (Brazilian Sport Press, Brazilian News and The Irish Word to name a few) the League was also featured in at length on Lithuanian and Colombian television and some teams have their own web-sites.
For the 2008-2009 Season eight teams will take part in the League competition with other teams invited to take part in the Diplomatic Cup: Lusitânia Brazil; Ecuador; France; Ireland; Japan; Panama; Poland; and Spain.

Should we receive the sponsorship that we need to get to the next level, we plan to supply teams with their new national kits. At present most teams already play in their national colours and on Saturday mornings in Wandsworth Common passing spectators and passers by are already aware that International pride is at stake as they walk past a fixture.
We moved to new pitches in Wandsworth Common (in past seasons with the help of sponsorship from HSBC we were able to play in Regents Park - previous sponsors for the league were Sacconne & Speed) which helped with encouraging more teams to join the league because of the more central location. It was also very close to many Diplomats who like to support their teams, but do not want to travel away from central London to do so. Last season we welcomed Panama to the League with The Commonwealth Secretariat invited to take part in the Diplomatic Cup for the first time. This year Ecuador are the new boys. We have to ensure that new teams will play the whole season and will not bring the League into any disrepute. Most of the teams that played in the previous season have signed to play in the 2008-2009 season. We are very happy to again have sponsorship to the Diplomatic Cup Competition from IDS-International Diplomatic Supplies.

We are currently putting together a full description of how and where we would spend any sponsorship money received. We have no information as to any costs for producing sponsors badges for each team's kit. We would hope that the marketing department of any sponsor would have contacts for production or even better something that could be used so as not to use most of the sponsorship money on livery and little on the League itself.
Much of the sponsorship money will be used with ensuring that teams will play in their most recent national kits, we forecast that following years the ongoing costs for sponsorship will be reduced to around a third of the first years total received. The sponsorship by HSBC amounted to £10,000 (ten thousand pounds). All accounts will be transparent and the Sponsor will have access to this at any time. The sponsor will also be invited to Committee meetings.
At the moment the DFA-IFLeague will have sponsorship for the second running season from IDS (International Diplomatic Supplies) for the Diplomatic Cup competition. We are looking to invite new teams to take part in this competition, with the view to introduce new teams to the League. Countries and Organizations being considered include Bolivia, China, Ghana, Germany, Mongolia, Scotland Yard, The Commonwealth Secretariat, The Football Association and the USA. National Westminster Bank is the official bank of the Diplomatic Football Association.
